Dominus Vobiscum

St. Juliana was born in 1193 in Retinnes, near Liège, Belgium. When she was five years old, his parents died and she and her sister - Agnes - delivered in the care of the Augustinian Sisters of Mount Cornillon. St. Juliana increased considerably. He loved to read the writings of St. Augustine and St. Bernard. He also has a love that burned to the Blessed Virgin and the Passion of Jesus, however, he especially loves Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. St. Juliana received her robes in the year 1206, when he was thirteen years old. He resolved to devote her life to serving those who are sick, especially the lepers who were treated in hospital monastery.

When he was sixteen years old, St. Juliana began to get the gift of sight. He saw the moon in the sky, and though the moon shone brightly shining, but there is a black stain to him! St. Juliana was not accustomed to seeing such things. He thought, sight is just her imagination, so he tried to forget. However, the visions come and come again. Felt that the vision is from God, he told the Superior, Sr. Sapientia, but did not get his interpretation.
Finally, after much prayer and penance, Jesus himself explained the meaning of vision. He said, "You are nervous because of the vision. In fact, I want to set a special feast for the
Church Warrior, because it is extremely important to the celebration, which is the Feast of the Sacrament of the Altar of the glory and the Holy. At present, the celebration of this mystery will be performed only on Maundy Thursday. But, on that day, especially the Passion and Death is my reflection. Therefore, other days I want a dedicated, where the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar will be celebrated by all Christians! The first reason why I wanted this particular holiday is for Blessed Sacrament diperteguh faith, especially when people are attacking this mystery of evil in the future. The second reason is so that the faithful be strengthened to achieve perfection through a deep love and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The third reason is so that with this feast, and with love, addressed to the Sacrament of the Altar, sacrifices made for the humiliation and lack of respect toward the Blessed Sacrament. "
Jesus also explains that the moon symbolizes the Church is so bright scintillating with various celebrations. Black stain indicates that there is less, that is a celebration in honor of the Blessed Sacrament in particular. The Lord Jesus gave a mission to a special feast day is celebrated by the Church. However, St. Juliana was a nun who is very modest, and he shuddered to imagine that the mission should be assigned. Over the years St. Juliana harbored this secret. He spent the years that passed by prayer and penance, waiting for commands that God gave him more firmly to start the mission.
In 1230, St. Juliana was chosen as the Mother Superior of the Augustinian Monastery. Soon after his appointment, sightings of the moon with a black stain come back. Mother Juliana decided to tell her secret to someone who can give wise advice.
There was a clergyman from Lausanne a good and pious in Liège named John. He has a burning love for the Holy Eucharist. St. Juliana entrust their vision to this holy priest while you beg for theologians to talk about it with other wise. Pastor John's promptly told to several prominent theologians. They liked the idea of a new feast in honor of the Blessed Sacrament. Many bishops also merestuinya.
Roger, a leader in charge of the monastery, feeling disgusted with piety and holiness of St. Juliana. Roger is a man of cunning, which obtained the position through a conspiracy and bribery. He is accused of embezzling funds monastery of St. Juliana. He even incited the townspeople to sue Mother Juliana evicted from their city. St. Juliana fled to the Blessed Eva of Liege, and then to a house provided by John of Lausanne. Bishop Robert de Thorate of Liège ordered that this case be examined, and proved that the allegations were false. St. Juliana of not guilty is returned to its original position in the convent, while Roger was fired from his post.
St. Juliana proposed the holiday in honor of the Blessed Sacrament to the presence of Bishop Robert de Thorete, the Dominican Hugh of noble birth - who later became nuncio in the Netherlands, and to Jacques Pantaleon - Deacon Great Liège, who later became Pope Urban IV. The bishop was impressed by the idea of the proposed St. Juliana, and because the bishops have the right set feasts in their dioceses, he held a synod in the year 1246 and instruct to all priests, both diocesan and religious, to start next year to celebrate the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament . Sadly, this good bishop died soon after, on October 16, 1246, before she could see the instructions executed.
Feast of the Blessed Sacrament for the first time celebrated by the priests and all the faithful of the Church of St. Martin, Liège. A young monk named John was asked to write some new Liturgy of the Hours prayers for this feast. Liturgy of the Hours prayers recited in his writings of the Church of St. Martin for many years until the time of St. Thomas Aquinas wrote the famous Ofisinya.
After the death of the Bishop of Liège, in the year 1247, Roger returned to power. Once again he managed to drive out of St. Juliana. This holy nun to escape and received at the Monastery Salzinnes in Namur. Henry II of Namur and Luxembourg attacked the monastery burned Salzinnes. St. Juliana escaped again and was accepted at the Cistercian Monastery of the Sisters of Fosses. He spent the final years of his life as a hermit in Fosses poor with a fragile health until his death on 5 April 1258. St. Juliana was buried at Villiers.
St. Juliana seems to have failed in its mission, but actually not the case. Continue their mission according to the mystery of the divine administration. Eva Beata, a hermit nun from St. Martin, continuing what has been pioneered by St. Juliana. B Eva remembered Deacon Court of Liège which has now become Pope Urban IV. He persuaded Bishop Henry Guelders of Liège and a few other influential people to write to the Holy Father, the urgency of setting the Feast of Corpus Christi (in honor of the Blessed Sacrament) for the universal Church. However, Pope Urban, who liked this idea, is facing political difficulties. Several years passed before he could give full attention to this problem.
Political problem caused the Holy Father must flee to Orvieto. While he lived there, the pope heard about the miracle of the Blessed Sacrament in Bolsena, a small town not far from Orvieto. Holy Father instructed thorough investigation of the roots of a miracle and he was so stunned when the test proves that miracles are authentic. Soon he was declared to be a very special thanksgiving procession was held in Orvieto.
Further, Pope Urban IV asked St. Thomas Aquinas to write the texts of the liturgy, prayer and hymn of praise which is suitable for the grand feast. Filled with the grace of God, St. Thomas produces works that are considered as a masterpiece in the Catholic Liturgy. Among these are the "Lauda Sion", "Prince Lingua", "O Salutaris", and "Tantum Ergo" which is still being prayed and dimadahkan until now in the Holy Eucharist, Adoration, and the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament parade. St. Thomas then appealed to Pope Urban to immediately promulgate the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament to be celebrated in every Catholic Church throughout the world.
A year later, Pope Urban IV issued the Bull Transiturus on 8 September 1264, where after glorify our Savior's love in the Holy Eucharist, he declared that the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated every year on Thursday after the Feast of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Father also provides many indulgences for all the faithful who take part in both the Mass and Liturgy of the Hours on this wonderful holiday.
Pope Urban IV died on October 2, 1264, shortly after the publication of Transiturus Bull, seems to inhibit the dissemination of the celebration of Corpus Christi. Later, Pope Clement V (1305-1314) gave his attention to this issue and the Council of Vienne in 1311 he instructed that the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated again. Pope Clement issued a new decree which affirmed the decree issued by Pope Urban IV. In times of Pope John XXII (1316-1334) - successor to the succession of Pope Clement V - This feast day is celebrated with a festive parade and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance.
Since 1970, the Feast of Corpus Christi or the Feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Sunday after the Feast of the Holy Trinity.
About St. Juliana of Liège, after his death, a number of miracles were reported through mediation. In 1869 Pope Pius IX proclaimed beatification of St. Juliana. Feast on 6 April.
May we imitate St. Juliana in the love and respect for the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar.
